Tigerrific!

Teddy music: Hillsong - Your Unfailing Love

Well, April's drawing to a close. May will soon begin. Oh, the preciousness of time. How we love to let it slip by! Damn you, procrastination!

;P

Anyway...finally the IH Sydney trip is here! So's the new Mac OS X Tiger! Wooohooooo...

Grrrrowwlll...
Hear me roar! Mac's new system is TERRRRRRific! *imitating Tony the Tiger*

Hung around at the Applecentre at ANU to wait for them to officially launch the Tiger at 6pm. There was a small crowd all waiting to get their own hands on it. It was pretty exciting to finally get my grubby (OK, they were clean) little paws on the brand spanking new Mac OS. *teddy thrills* Can't wait to install it! It's really cool that they gave educational discounts thus I only had to pay AUD$129 instead of AUD$199. Pretty good deal, I say. Thanks Papa for letting me get it! *muax* =)

When I got back, I was showing it to my housemates. Kel is such a killjoy - he went, "Yeah?" when I showed it to him. Hmmm...at least Kevin was more responsive when I called him to tell him about it. We'll see if I can convince him to upgrade his system on his PowerBook. When talking to Kev, I heard his little cousins playing with him and I teased him saying that they'd probably grab his long hair. He told me they actually did and fell off...haha. Cute little tykes. =)

Teddy music: Hillsong United [Live] - Where The Love Lasts Forever

Kayu Tim called me up about two hours ago. It was so nice to hear him and not just talk online. He really can crack me up. I was laughing for about 60% of the time during that phonecall. Definitely looking forward to seeing him in Sydney later =) Sorry about calling you Kayu-chan, Tim! I really meant to say Kayu-kun...hehe. No, I'm not confused by your gender. ;P

Alright...I'm going to tackle this monkey of an essay assignment before I head to Sydney!

*teddy hugs*

P.S. Apple totally rocks! It OWNS!

edited at 02:57
P.P.S. I was reminded of this while chatting to Anthony. One night at Hungry Jack's (that's Burger King here, FYI), Kel, Anthony & I were talking about the Man Utd VS Newcastle Utd football match. Anthony asked Kel, "So where can you watch football?" (Translation: Which channel broadcasts live football?") Kel's reply? "On TV." (Translation: On TV.) Talk about miscommunication...haha. It was so funny when it happened. ;P

Tiny Delights

Teddy music: Passion 268 - I Could Sing Of Your Love

It's always the little things that count more. Sure, big showy displays are attention grabbing but I've always been a firm believer that it's the subtle actions that capture more.

Just like how receiving an unexpected card from a friend far away can bring a smile to one's face. When you hear that it made that person delighted, it makes you feel glad that you sent it. And so you set a positive cycle in motion.

Teddy music: Hillsong United [Live] - Take All Of Me

Sending a card just for the heck of it. Giving flowers just to show you care. Giving a hug when you see someone needing it. Lending an ear to listen to someone. Just being there when they need you. And vice versa for all that when it comes to yourself.

You'll do little things for others just to make their lives that much more pleasant. The gratification you get out of it makes it rewarding. Indeed, it's better to give than to receive.

I wish I could say that I appreciate every single little thing that others do for me. Sad to say, sometimes it's taken for granted. But, in hindsight, it's always treasured.

I think it's sweet when I see another person do the little, easily unnoticeable stuff for someone else - just because they want to. Not because they had to but out of their own heart. Isn't that how it should be like more often nowadays? Sad to say that this world is becoming jaded and increasingly cynical.

Isn't it about time we did something about it?

First Class Bear

Teddy music: Charlie Parker - Now's The Time

If you didn't know which pair of socks I was referring to..it's this pair:

Stripey goodness
Not only do they keep me toesies warm, they help keep my heartsie blithe

This here is a picture of the Australian War Memorial before the Dawn service on Anzac Day.

Lest We Forget
A awe-inspiring sight but such a crazy hour...

Teddy music: Miles Davis - Moon Dreams

Alby
here has "elevated" me to the ranking of First Class Honourary Teddy. Hmmm...all this because of a little something that just recently happened. Funny Alby. Whatever makes you happy. =)

Jazz Food

Teddy music: Stan Kenton & His Orchestra - I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)

In a jazzy mood tonight. Mmm...jazz. Love the stuff. =) If only you could eat it...

For one thing, living on your own makes you try out weird combinations of food. Take for instance, the bowl of mush in front of the keyboard. It's basically baby potatoes cooked with milk, butter, onions, garlic and sliced pork sausage with some ground and whole black peppercorns thrown in. Voila! A simple but filling meal. No-brainer comfort food.

Teddy music: Hong Kong Jazz Quartet featuring Eugene Pao - How Insensitive

Got the tix for the Sydney weekend trip. Woohoo...but boohoo as there are assignments due the following weeks too. Such is the life of a student, hey?

I've got to get started on my LCS essay. Sighs...I'm wearing my new pair of stripey socks to try and keep myself amused thus be in a happy mood.

Hmm...back to university.

Calling You Home

Teddy music: Aerosmith - Cryin'

I feel in love with this song after hearing it in the movie 'Be Cool'. Another song that I'm really into now is 'Learning How To Smile' by Everclear.

It's Anzac Day today. All Aussies would know what's it for, I should hope so. I'll elaborate on this more (maybe). I'll be heading off for the Dawn Service with Lisa & Seth. Not sure if Cute & Laura will come along too.

We've got to be at Belconnen Interchange by 4.45am to catch the bus there. Bleh. Oh well...it's an annual thing. Not like it happens everyday.

Teddy music: Train - Calling All Angels

I'm so excited in my spirit. I believe that I've finally found a church that I can call my spiritual home. I went with my college senior to a church that rents the Boiler Lecture House on Sundays. When I went in there, I just felt something was different and as soon as the service started, it was just so...right. At last, a spirit-filled church. There was such a flood of joy and relief within my spirit that I was getting high on it! Haha...

I believed that I hadn't found the church I was really meant to be in yet until today. I just didn't feel right in the other two churches. Something was missing. Oh, thank You Lord that You finally brought me to a church that I believe I can grow in.

It's awesome. I really can't wait for next Sunday! I can't believe I'm saying this...but I am! =)

Cold's Numbing Beauty

Teddy music - The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again

I love the cold. I can't understand why people are so afraid of the cold.

As I sit here and type this out, I can feel the cold sneaking up my legs and wrapping itself around the back of my arms.

Cold. It numbs you to nothing. Closes off your sensations one by one.

When you eventually become so cold in your core, you fall asleep.

Blissful nothingness.

The cold is beautiful in its own way.

Rushed In & Out

Teddy music: Fredro Starr & Jill Scott - Shining Through

My guess is that people would be expecting a full on description of the past few days spent in Melbourne. That's not what's going to happen. Yesh, there will be pictures but not much to say.

It was something that was interesting and eye-opening to see the real industry for what it is. Picked up some nuggets of wisdom. Shocked my system into steeling myself for what could happen. But, the best part of the whole trip was getting to see my friends there. Because of them, I can't wait (in a sense) to go back to see them.

Teddy music: Lifehouse - Everything

Other than that, I was experiencing "city culture shock". That's probably the best way to put it for me. As the bus was entering into Melbourne, I started to feel the old adrenaline rush entering my body system. The busyness of it all. The constant rush. I was glad that I'm in Canberra where I can take at least a year off from this. I realised just how much I didn't miss the big citylife. Of course, I would be able to tolerate it but at the end of it all, I would want some place where I can go and just find some peace.

Peace. That's all I want at the end of everything.

So, here's some pix from the Melbourne trip. I'll admit that Melbourne's a very pretty city thanks to the fact that they have this heritage city scheme that doesn't allow them to tear down the old building facades. Even then, the new architecture's something to feast your eyes on.

Say what?
Witches & Bitches. Yesh, you read that right.
Skyscraping the city sky
Melbourne's night skyline

Teddy music: Frou Frou - Maddening Shroud

I've got a good mind to throw it all away...
That's what I kinda feel like at the mo'.

Amber building
Pretty pretty Flinders Street Station - it's on the Aussie Monopoly version! =)
Girl shot
L-R: Ee-Lin. CK. Dorothy. Met up with them the first night and my last night there. Forgot to take a group pic on the last night with Manvinder. Hadn't seen him in four years!
Blurry life
Life in the city's like this, in my opinion. A blur whizzing past you with no time to stop.
Happy gelato eaters
Met up with Joy on my second night. We had delicious gelato at Lygon Street. Mmmmm

Teddy music: Ben E. King - Stand By Me

This song is forever immortalised in my mind as one of the Rainmakers' songs. =)

So there you have it. My Melbourne trip in a nutshell.

I discovered that I'll probably need and have to fly solo from now on. Time to subscribe to the club.

I don't think I can put up with this any longer.

Teddy music: Antonio Carlos Jobim with Stan Getz - Desafinado

Somehow, I feel like I'm confined. I want to break away and live. To run free without feeling burdened.

*insert mental image of wild pony running through grassy meadows with wind whipping its mane around*

Tough luck on me that I don't look anywhere near as glamorous as that. And, I guess it's a good thing I don't look like a horse either.

Serving Up A Life Slice

Teddy music: Fuel - Innocent (Piano Acoustic)

Imagine staying awake for 20.5 hours straight.

That's what I did. Went to sleep at 8.30am and woke up at 2pm today.

I hope that this will somehow kick my sleeping cycle back to sleeping 1-2am and waking up 9-10am. It's not good at the way it's going now.

Still, it was pretty lovely to be awake and witness my first sunrise at Canberra on ressies. I had my first sunrise of Australia when I flew over in February.

I saw two kookaburras this morning from Kel's window. One of them was laughing away and it was soooo adorable the way its whole body was shaking as it laughed. =) Kel's reaction to my gleeful discovery of the laughing kookaburra? "I'd take a shoe and throw it at it. Making noise only." Haih. Damn, missed an opportunity to capture a kookaburra in action. My camera was down in my room at that time.

Anyway, here's some shots I took when I got off my arse and went back up to Kel's room with my camera.

Morning Canberra
It was so peacefully tranquil. So calm, that the kangaroos felt like play fighting/boxing (you can see it in the lower right picture =)

Teddy music: Snow Patrol - Whatever's Left

So this entry's for Esther, in a way. Haha.

Am I really kicking it up here in Australia? Erm...I wouldn't know but I'd say that I've been more exposed here than back home. It's interesting to say the least. =) Definitely something that opens up your perception and challenges you to evaluate yourself as a Christian. However, I'll be the first to say that I'm no perfect Christian. I'm not a super good Christian but with God's grace, I'm making it. =)

Teddy music: Gavin DeGraw - I Don't Want To Be

Hmmm...this song makes me miss watching One Tree Hill. Damn. =(

Anyway, back to the "story".

I do hope I can leave some kind of impact (a good impact! ;P) on those around me. I think I'm sort of finding my footing here...but then again, I'm not too sure yet.

It's interesting getting to know people here. Especially when you get to know all kinds of people from different cultures/nationalities/lifestyles.

Teddy music: Mandy Moore & Jonathan Foreman - Someday We'll Know

It's funny how I seem to end up hanging out with non-Malaysians more. Take for instance, I probably would usually end up walking to the mall with my Singaporean mates (Kel/Anthony/Meryl) or Miki (Japanese). I have fellowship with mainly Aussies from FOCUS (Fellowship of Christian Uni Students). I do go out with my collegemates but in general, I seem to spend more time with non-Malaysians. After all, I'm here to experience the diversity of people you can meet here. Of course, it's always nice to be able to converse in Manglish/Singlish when you have the chance. =)

Here's a pic from last night when Meryl & I went to Deepa's place for a wonderfully yummy dinner of Thai chicken curry with a scrumptious dessert!

Girls' Night
Absolutely smashing dinner! And, this is why a girls' night is always heaps better than boys' night...ehehe

Now that it's autumn season, the scenery is changing to that beautiful rustic gold-red that I love so much.

Teddy music: Ash - Starcrossed

My camera is usually taken with me wherever I go just in case the perfect photo opportunity comes along.

The following pictures were taken along the way to the mall yesterday when I went with Anthony and Meryl. Anthony is slowly starting to warm up more and showing a little sarcasm. He said that he's only getting started. Oooo...haha

Teddy music: Great Balls Of Fire

He made a little dig when I was taking a picture of the swans by making the remark of "KL don't have these meh?" So mean...haha.

Anyway, feast your eyes on the beautiful autumn scenery. =)

Autumn Scene
Gorgeous, isn't it?

Teddy music: Straight No Chaser - Worlds Apart

Let's see...

1. Changed display picture.
2. Finally got blog links up.
3. Should be sleeping - but not.

All this...thanks to Tim. Haha.

Teddy music: Yellowcard - One Year, Six Months

For the links, I only added the ones that I read on a regular basis. I surf through quite a number of blogs but those are on a whim. Occasionally I'll find an interesting blog but yeh, these links are the ones I frequent the most. It's not a popularity contest here. So don't feel bad/upset if you don't see your blog's link when you know that I do visit sometimes. I do bookmark a lot more blogs than the ones I linked up here. =)

Teddy music: Darren Hayes - Strange Relationship

Oh...and here's what my desk looks like at 3am.

3AM Disaster?
Darling Fudgie, beloved Bible, glassy glasses, captivating candles, trusty thermo-mug, life liquid-holders (bottles, doink), steady stationery - some of the stuff you see on the desk ;P

I finished writing a letter earlier. I have no idea if I'll even be sending it to the intended person. We'll let time sort that one out. =)

On another note, can you please tell me if this blog bores you. I'm toying with the idea of quitting since I find that my blogging is not half as interesting as the other blogs I come across. Feedback, anyone?

Bricked Sleep

Teddy music: Phua Chu Kang - SARS Free

Haha...this is one hilarious song. It's so "ah beng" in that sense. How come Malaysia doesn't have this kinda thing?

Anyway...let's see, today I made a chocolate wheatflake brick. That's the only way I can describe it. Haha. I was thinking of the fastest way to use up my current wheat cereal biscuits so that I can get started on my Kellogg's Nutri-Grain. So this is what it looks like:

Choc flake brick
It doesn't look impressive but it's chocolate-y good!

Teddy music: Ashanti feat. Ja Rule - Happy

Here's another bunch of pix I snapped today.

This was on the way to the lake when I was hoping to catch the sunset but it was too cloudy and I was too late. At least I managed to capture this:

Evening Moon
The beauty of the waxing moon over Bruce

These pix are of my scented candles on my desk. I light them up when I do my quiet time and when there's a need to relax and withdraw.

3 Candles

Teddy music: Sugababes - Stronger

Didn't sleep well last night. What is up with my sleeping nowadays? This time it wasn't a disturbing dream but it was more of the state where your dream seems so real that you think you're awake when you're not. And, I was woken up by a call at 9am plus and I couldn't fall back to sleep properly - my mind had begun racing with the "real" dream thoughts. Blergh.

It's nearly the end of the week. Whoa...

Stirring Peanut Butter Chocolate

Teddy music: The Calling - Thank You

Had a nice walk on my own to the mall since everyone else had already gone by then.

Snapped some pix on the way there.

Picture collage imagery

Teddy music: Kelly Clarkson - Low

Bought peanut butter and dark chocolate. That was after I bought yet another pair of stripey socks - black, red, pink & lime green. I know that I absolutely detest pink but in this case, I made an exception since I was absolutely smitten by the stripey socks! ;P

When I got home, texted Christine & Kevin to see if they wanted to come over for peanut butter chocolate drops. Had a craving for some peanut butter chocolate after successfully making a small batch of peanut butter chocolate spread. Yesh, blame it on my weakness for peanut butter and chocolate.

Christine came by first since she was already at Ressies with Lachie. Kev came by a bit later. The drops came out pretty good. Christine, Kev & myself were eating quite a number as we made them ;P We even made an accidental mini chocolate stalagmite when Kev brushed the inside top of the freezer with the semi-set drops as he was putting them in to harden quicker. =)

PB-Choc drops do this to you

Teddy music: Tyler Hilton - Up Late Again

Kev was lounging around in one of the blue armchairs in the common room. Snapped some random upside down pix of him since those always make for funny pix. This pic in particular was the weirdest looking one. :)

Hmmm...Christine said we should go over to her place for dinner on Monday. Wonder what she'll be cooking...?

Teddy music: Hanson - Penny & Me (acoustic)

Outside the frame
Things would look different if we could go out of the frame

I managed a minor feat today. I actually woke up before 11am today.

Had another dream...again. Bittersweet feelings upon awakening. But, it's something to push aside.

Had brief but beneficial chats with two friends online last night. Felt good to have friends like them to encourage you and support when you're feeling spiritually low. God created friendships for a good reason. =)

The Melbourne trip's next week...it's coming so soon. Which also means that the break's nearing its end.

Oh well...it's already the middle of April.

Freeze The Moment

Teddy music: Hillsong - Dwelling Places

Hmmm...sent off a rather lengthy email to my brother, Kevin. Had some stuff I wanted to share with him in it. I hope it makes sense to him. Just really felt the tugging of God on my heart to share that with him.

I read in Alby's blog about him watching the Sepet VCD. That made me want to own one now. I want to see that movie that was such a buzz back home. Grrrrr.......

Hmm...the start of the two-week term break. Been in a bit of a cooking frenzy as I wanted to use up the foodstuff before it rots and dies when I'm away in Melbourne next week. Made pork curry (I thought the meat cubes was lamb...damn. Looks like I'll have to go out and buy lamb the next time round if I want to eat lamb. Hmph.) and this afternoon after waking up, I made potato & spring onion soup. Yum. Both turned out pretty good and are now nicely freezing away in the freezer. I've got enough food to get me through the week and a couple days into next week. ;P The magic of freezing and microwaving to get instant hot meals. Haha...thank God for modern technology.

Teddy music: Hillsong United [Live] - Take All Of Me

Watched the Macrosse anime movie with Kel last night. He did warn me at the beginning that it was the kind of movie that you need to leave your brains behind and just watch it. It was pretty well drawn considering it was drawn in 1984! Fuuh....just that the colours aren't as vibrant as today's anime but the skill in the making of it...awesome! We had a good laugh at the mushiness of the romance story underlying the space-y destruction.

Sighs...I want to see Telstra Tower and Lanyon Homestead. Just waiting for Kev (not my brother...the other Kev) to give a call saying that we can go out gallivanting. Then you'll hear me say, "Yay!" ala Alby-style. Hehe.

Asian Night at IH 3
Since we already had a Pizza Night and Pasta/Sushi Night, it was high time for an Asian night - we had potstickers, wanton soup, stir-fried beef noodles and sweet red bean soup...

See Mummy, I managed to pull it off...haha...but I sure do miss my mummy's cooking when it comes to this =)

Teddy music: Anointed - Anything Is Possible

Sunset shots on-campus...amazing huh?
Lake Ginnendera sunset
Taken while waiting for Kel, Anthony and Ivo to finish their jogging. It was really peaceful to just sit at the lakeside and think. Had a few matters on my mind to go through while sitting there.

Teddy music: Gin Blossoms - Til I Hear It From You

Total opposites

She'll be performing at the open mic session which is after the four main acts.

I was flipping through my book where I write down verses that strike me as I read God's Word i.e. the Bible.

I opened it to the first page that I started and saw what had been written when reading Jonah 1:6. God will use anyone, saved or unsaved, to remind us of the destiny He has in store for each of us.

Teddy music: Matchbox Twenty - Push (Unplugged)

Thanks to an email I received just recently from "darling", it was a huge in-your-face reminder of God's promises and the fact that He's always true and faithful even when we fail to be likewise.

How come it doesn't always go that way?

If you don't know, honey, why'd you just say so?
And I need this now more than I ever did.
If you don't well, honey, then you don't.

Isn't it something you can understand too?

Creeper Love

Teddy music: BBMak - Ghost of You and Me

The weeks seem to fly by. Next week, two weeks of free time. Time that needs to be used to finish off work before we dig deeper graves for ourselves.

I remember now why candles have held such fascination for me. The flame that flickers at times, steady at others represent what we are at times. It's something that I can stare at for hours and just drift away on a train of thoughts that lead nowhere sometimes.

"I didn't mean to fall in love with you..." A line from the song that's currently playing. Something that really echoes with me now.

Still, I find that I'm willingly falling and becoming more and more captivated as time goes on.

Teddy music: Dido - White Flag

Is this a love that may be slowly creeping in? A love that doesn't get in your face but a gentle love that wins you over, bit by bit?

Yet...I go along with it. My own heart still holds back some no thanks to history.

Teddy music: Kelly Clarkson - The Trouble With Love Is

Love is a troubled thing indeed when it's out of the right timing.

Whatever it is, hopefully Kev will be free sometime next week. If he is, we just might be able to check out Telstra Tower, maybe Lanyon Homestead and hit some random town for the fun of it. More car adventures. Hehe...

Too bad I've got to go for a group meeting for this Thursday's presentation of the International Advertising group assignment.

I'm really looking forward to the 2 weeks of free class after this week. Planning to do a Canberra touristy trip in the first week (besides working my arse off to complete assignments!) - hoping to rope in Kevin as my tour guide since he's been here for 4-5 years by now...ehehehe. ;P The second week, it's off to Melbourne for the Advertising Marketing Society's industry trip. Hope to gain some interesting insights and maybe, just maybe, snag a job? =)

I really am falling in love here. I can definitely see myself living here for a good few years. This just further reinforces my decision of not wanting to go back.

Now, I just pray that I can get a job here at the end of this year.

Oh...and I've got heaps of places around Australia that I want to tour come winter break. End of the year, I've got quite a few friends to visit in their home countries! =) Woohooo....

So what's happening on your side? Life's pretty good aside from the studying pressure =)
